Approved Medications While Donating Milk

You can continue to donate while taking the following medications:

  • Vitamins, minerals, iron, fish oil, omega-3-fatty acids, probiotics
  • Non-sedating antihistamines (i.e., Allegra, Clarinex, Claritin, Zyrtec, etc.)
  • Birth control (progestin-only)
  • Stool softeners
  • Ibuprofen, Acetaminophen
  • Insulin
  • Inhaled medications for asthma, colds, or allergies
  • Most antacids (NOT Ranitidine – brand name Zantac)
  • Thyroid replacement medicine
  • Selected antidepressants (only Sertraline, Fluvoxamine, Nortriptyline, Paroxetine)
  • Allergy shots
  • Selected human immune globulin products (i.e. Rhogam)
